Federal funding freeze status impacts Maryland. Here's how
Maryland state lawmakers aren't breathing a sigh of relief just yet now that a freeze on federal grants and loans is apparently being rescinded. On Wednesday, the governor, state treasurer and comptroller offered some public encouragement on how the state would have dealt with it. According to state Comptroller Brooke Lierman, some $23 billion in federal funds awarded to Maryland in the last fiscal year would have been on hold. Officials said Maryland has billions of dollars at its disposal to temporarily offset some of the impact, 11 News has learned.
