Trump Selects Influencer Doctor Casey Means As Surgeon General
US President Donald Trump has selected health entrepreneur and wellness influencer Dr. Casey Means as the US Surgeon General. Means, a supporter of Robert F. Kennedy’s Make America Healthy Again agenda, has replaced Trump’s previous choice, doctor and Fox News contributor Janette Nesheiwat. Despite having no prior government experience, Means will take the position of the “nation’s doctor,” working alongside Kennedy. “Her academic achievements, together with her life’s work, are absolutely outstanding. Dr Casey Means has the potential to be one of the finest Surgeon Generals in United States History,” Trump said in the post. Means advised Kennedy during his 2024 presidential campaign and frequently appears on TV and podcasts to discuss the Trump administration's health policies. The 37-year-old earned her medical degree from Stanford University; however, she later dropped out of a medical residency program to set up her company, Levels. Levels is a glucose monitoring company aimed at helping users track their blood pressure levels as well as other metrics. Means takes a traditional approach to medicine, placing blame on pharmaceutical and food companies for a rise in chronic illnesses. The decision comes after Trump withdrew Nesheiwat from the running due to criticism from far-right sources close to the administration for her support of the COVID-19 vaccine.
