Hungry Hummingbirds Fed by Hand in California's Sierra Nevada
Northern California woman Patty Cottington is no stranger to hummingbirds, especially the “hundreds” that she says live in her town of North Fork “year-round” and which happily feed straight from her hand.In a video posted by Cottington on Facebook, numerous hummingbirds are seen darting around her garden in North Fork, a community in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range, and taking nibbles from a feeder in her hand.Cottington told Storyful that she feeds the birds on a regular basis. “I literally have hundreds of hummingbirds that live here year-round,” she said. “During peak season I go through five gallons of hummingbird nectar a day,” she added.
