Sagan, a superlative bike handler who seldom wobbles, crashed heavily on a descent two days ago and was in visible pain early in the stage, but pulled through thanks to Bora-Hansgrohe teammates who hovered protectively around him. The Slovakian has already clinched the points classification, which is awarded for sprint points and stage finishes, but still has to cross the finish line in Paris.
