Former Bond Star Backs Aaron Taylor-Johnson To Play 007
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been backed to play James Bond by former '007' actor George Lazenby. Lazenby, who portrayed Bond in 1969's 'On Her Majesty’s Secret Service', said Taylor-Johnson would be able to "handle" the role well. The Australian feels the 'Kick-Ass' actor would "do the character justice" and urged him to "be true to himself and reinvent the role." While news broke that Taylor-Johnson has been formerly offered the role, Lazenby believes that the young actor has not landed it just yet. Lazenby says that when he was Bond in the 1960s, "he went through a bunch of different tests and auditions before he won the role”. Lazenby was the second-ever Bond, taking the role from Sean Connery in 1969 before the Scotsman reprised the role in 1971.
