1 day agoTunisian activist tears down Carrefour banner and holds Palestinian flagwww.youtube.com on YouTubeA Tunisian activist tore down a Carrefour banner while holding a Palestinian flag during a Tunisia-Malawi football match on Monday to protest the French company’s ties with the Israeli government. The activist was subsequently arrested by Tunisian police. In January. Carrefour announced the closure of its Omani branches on Tuesday, following widespread boycott campaigns. This move came months after the company closed its branches in Jordan, where boycott actions targeting firms with ties to Israel are strong. Carrefour gave no reason for the closure, only stating it will "cease operations" in Oman. The supermarket giant has been a major target of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which says Carrefour has ties with Israel through its partnerships with Electra Consumer Products and Yenot Bitan, both involved in illegal Israeli settlements.
