The UFC recently announced that a fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler would headline UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas. McGregor opened as a slight favorite at -110 odds in his first fight in almost three years. Chandler is currently a slight underdog at odds of +100.

UFC 303 main event odds

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler

McGregor (22-6) has not fought since suffering a broken leg in a loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July of 2021. The injury required an extensive recovery, and McGregor’s return was further delayed after he was cast in the movie “Road House” opposite Jake Gyllenhaal. While McGregor publicly expressed frustration at not receiving a fight offer from the UFC sooner, UFC president Dana White attributed the delay to McGregor’s busy schedule around the film’s release date. McGregor won titles in two UFC weight classes but has struggled in recent bouts, losing three of his last four.

Chandler (23-8) has been waiting for this fight since he coached opposite McGregor on “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2023. He also voiced his frustrations at how long it took for the fight to come together, but he opted to hold out and wait for McGregor to become available rather than taking any other fights in the interim. Chandler is a former Bellator lightweight champion who has won two of his five UFC fights since debuting with the promotion in 2021. The bulk of his pro career has taken place at 155 pounds, but this fight is expected to take place at 170 pounds, as agreed upon by both men.
