Haiti— Haiti’s capital remains in a state of panic following days of brazen attacks by armed assailants on police and army bases, as well as on residents, spreading fear throughout the city and leaving people fearing the worst.

Since February 29th, areas like Bel-Air, Bas-Delmas, the airport road, the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac, Bas Peu de Chose, and near the open market Marché Salomon have reported sightings of armed men, causing residents to hastily seek refuge in their homes. On the evening of March 6, they set fire to the Marché Salomon sub-police station in downtown Port-au-Prince. This attack, along with others, has sparked panic in surrounding areas such as Magloire Amboise and Ruelle Chavanne, prompting residents to issue SOS calls fearing a potential gang invasion.

The situation in Haiti continues to cause serious concern as gangs display a determination to seize control of the capital. Throughout the streets of the city, residents express their dismay at this unprecedented situation. For many, it is the first time they have experienced such distress.

The following videos gathered testimonies from residents in downtown Port-au-Prince near Marché Salomon, in Champ de Mars, and Carrefour Aéoport, revealing a unanimous outcry of fear, despair, and anger. Some are fleeing in all directions for safety, while others have lost their livelihoods in fires set by armed gangs or are separated from their families.
