Trump Arrives In Saudi Arabia As Part Of Middle East Trip
US President Donald Trump has begun his Middle East tour, arriving in Saudi Arabia, one of the US’s most important allies, as part of his four-day visit to the Gulf region. His visit is centered on making economic deals rather than addressing pressing security matters such as the current war in Gaza and Iran’s developing nuclear program. Joining the president on his visit are his advisor and tech billionaire, Elon Musk, along with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio. Trump’s first stop is Riyadh, where he will attend the Saudi-US Investment Forum, before heading to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. According to Reuters, Trump is expected to offer Saudi Arabia an arms package valued at over $100 billion, which is said to include a range of advanced weapons, including C-130 transport aircraft. Speaking at the forum’s opening, Saudi Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih expressed optimism about the upcoming economic discussions with Trump. “When Saudis and Americans join forces very good things happen, more often than not great things happen when those joint ventures happen," al-Falih said. Saudi Arabia had previously pledged $600 billion in oil-related investments; however, Trump has stated that his goal is to secure $1 trillion. Trump has notably excluded Israel as a stop during his trip, which has raised questions surrounding the current state of US-Israel relations.
