Heavy exchange of fire lasts two hours as Indian Army neutralise terrorists, recover massive arms cache
Baramulla - April 23, 2025 Following a recent terror strike, Indian Army personnel launched a search operation and uncovered a significant weapons cache. They took down two terrorists and recovered AK-series rifles, multiple magazines, a pistol, 10 kilograms of RCIED (Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device), and various war-grade supplies. The incident occurred in Baramulla district, in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir, on April 23. Visuals show several AK series rifles, numerous bullets, and a pistol placed on a table in a seized state. According to reports, Brigadier Mayank Shukla, Commander of the 161 Infantry Brigade, confirmed that a counter-infiltration operation was launched late Tuesday night following intelligence inputs about Pakistani terrorists' movement in the Uri sector. On the night of April 22–23, the Indian Army received credible information regarding terrorist presence at a launchpad near the Uri Nallah. Monitoring the terrorists’ movement across the Line of Control (LoC), forces observed their infiltration attempt around 3 a.m. A fierce two-hour gunfight ensued, during which two terrorists were eliminated. From the slain infiltrators, troops recovered two AK-series rifles, a 9mm Chinese pistol, magazines, and a substantial cache of ammunition. Meanwhile, the deadly terrorist assault at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday marked one of the most devastating attacks in the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama bombing, which killed 40 CRPF personnel. This recent strike also stands as one of the most significant terror incidents in the region following the revocation of Article 370.
