Former Soviet Union (USSR) Countries

The Soviet Union (or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics - USSR) was a giant single-party communist state formed by the federal union of 15 national republics. It existed from 1922 to 1991. This giant transcontinental state stretched across Asia and Eastern Europe from the Pacific Ocean coast in the east to the Baltic and Black seas in the west. At the time of its existence, the Soviet Union was the world's largest country, covering roughly 8,650,000 square miles.
