Earthquakes 101

Earthquakes are usually quite brief but may repeat and happen all time. National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC) records an average of 50 a day. The map shows the ones that happened today so far. They collapse buildings and infrastructure while taking lives. Caused by movements of the Earth’s crust the energy released causes seismic waves. Depending on the strength of the earthquake and its geographic location earthquakes can be extremely costly.
