I will be showing this painting at the Carrousel du Louvre, Societe Nationale des beaux arts, Paris in December the 12th of december to the 16. "Sep 11" size 2 m x 1.70m September -11-2001 changed the meaning of freedom on this planet. It was the beginning of a digression in the world with respect to many backward steps being taken, which have devalued the European Enlightenment along with the moral fabric of our democratic society and also made a mockery of international human rights law. Since that terrible day on which unconventional weapons were used against the most powerful military might of the USA on their home soil to kill over 3000 innocent people, we have unashamedly turned away from the free society to which we belonged. We willingly invaded nations based on false evidence and lies about weapons of mass destruction; we declared a war on terror, which has continued to promote hate against Muslims and ignited a destructive ideological war between Islam and the West. We have been implicated in unlawful imprisonment of people, attacking innocents with bombs using remotely controlled drone aircraft, the torturing of human beings to extract information - all in the name of the greater good – for our privileged security. We are paranoid enough to listen to private telephone conversations by tapping the phones of citizens, and allow asylum seekers escaping from harm’s way to drown in the oceans. In doing all these things we have degraded our humanity, built fortresses to keep safe and further controlled all our freedoms through a frenzy of security madness. Dany's painting depicts the falling twin towers that mark the end of freedom and illustrates the frames of cages we have built to imprison ourselves or to keep others out or confine them inside jail-like constructions in which everything is controlled for our security at the expense of theirs – us versus them - but what is less obvious is the frames depict barricades denying us our collective freedoms.
