Image by @beverlyjoubert who is part of National Geographic's Women of Vision exhibition currently on at Palm Beach Photographic Centre, downtown west Palm Beach, FL. A family portrait of a lion family reunited. After a tense couple of days when two out of six cubs refused to cross a dangerous channel and separated the family, the two lionesses finally coaxed them across. The 2015 Yukon Quest Dogsled Race is halfway complete as mushers are beginning to arrive in Dawson City, Canada, 452 miles into the race. Once they arrive in Dawson City, mushers will get 24 hours of rest before continuing on to complete the next 548 miles. Photo by Katie Orlinsky (@katieorlinsky) who is on assignment covering the Yukon Quest for National Geographic News. Every year, mushers and dog teams competing in the Yukon Quest travel across 1,000 miles of frozen sub-Arctic wilderness, from Canada's Yukon Territory into the heart of the Alaskan interior. The race, less well known than the Iditarod but famous for being tougher, is unpredictable, exciting, and filled with colorful characters - it teaches us about the people and the cultures whose land it passes through. #YQ2015 #YukonQuest #dogsledrace #natgeonews #adventure #yukon #canada #onassignment #dawsoncity

Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - North of the Wujiang River in Wulong county, China, the mountains that surround the small town of Tongzi are riddled with immense cathedral-like caverns and deep vertical pits that seem to go on down forever. This vast area of limestone awaits any intrepid explorer. Light shines all around an American explorer (pictured above) as he climbs the rope he installed in the centre of this epic cave shaft known as Xinu Attic.
