The Detroit-born “Lone Eagle” aka, Charles Lindbergh’s 20-month-old son was kidnapped on March 1, 1932. The news shocked and gripped the entire nation, with updates occurring almost every week in newspapers, including the Harbor Beach Times. On March 11th, the Times printed its first update.

I’ll admit that I’ve taken a liking to cruise. It must be the influence of having a sailboat that we have taken from port to port on Lake Huron. Great Lakes Cruising is making a comeback.

The Meandering Michigan Shiawassee Trail
This is another series of converging Native American trails in Michigan that roughly ran parallel to the famous Saginaw trail. An 1825 map of Michigan clearly details this minor trail. Starting near Detroit west of Fort Shelby and the Côté des Pays, ( County Side) road.Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Executive Order to “Stay Home, Stay Safe” was not unexpected. The Michigan Pandemic due to the Coronavirus outbreak was forcing many states into a total lockdown with Shelter in Place orders. As of March 26, 2020, the state of Michigan recorded 2,294 cases of coronavirus and 43 deaths.
I learned about Henry Schoolcraft while still in grade school. I don’t remember the details, but there may have been a children’s story involved. I found it hard to imagine that Michigan could be so wild and untouched.
The Great Lakes region of North America was home to numerous Native American settlements before European explorers and settlers arrived. These settlements were established by various indigenous tribes and served as centers of trade, culture, and community life.
