Texas, Oklahoma Take Step to Join SEC, Could Set Off Massive NCAA Change

The structure of NCAA sports, especially college football, got a seismic shakeup today as Texas and Oklahoma are set to leave the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference. The two perennial powers and original members of the conference officially notified the Big 12 that they will not be renewing media rights when they expire in 2025. The next step will be applying for SEC membership. The move would make the SEC even more of a superpower with 16 teams and could spur further realignment.
