Teams Spend Over $2 Billion During Opening of NBA Free Agency

A total of 53 players signed new or extended contracts and teams have spent over two billion dollars since the NBA free agency period opened Monday. Chris Paul landed the biggest free-agent deal, so far (Suns, $120 million), and Steph Curry the largest extension (Warriors, $215 million). The Heat have spent the most, inking Jimmy Butler to a $186.5 million extension and spending another $200 million to add Kyle Lowry and five others. The Lakers and Bulls were also among the most active teams.
