Nathaniel Hackett Fired, But The Debacle In Denver Persists

The Broncos' first-year coach just became the league's fifth since 1970 to get fired during his inaugural season. What went wrong? A lot. His career in Denver began with a clock management gaffe in Week 1 and concluded with a players’ scuffle in a Week 16 blowout loss. Denver is 4-11. The offensive-minded coach never got Russell Wilson on track, but the mess left behind — loss of draft picks, a $243-million contract to a quarterback in precipitous decline — was much more than one man’s failing.
