Baseball Is Stuck on Another Scandal

MLB has a new scandal on its hands following last year's sign-stealing punishments and the permanent stain of the steroids era. Several of the sport's top pitchers have been accused of using grip-enhancing goo to increase the spin on their pitches and movement of breaking balls. The use of substances has been described by former players as pervasive. Officials have pledged to step up enforcement, but some players are claiming the league is using the scandal as leverage in labor talks.
