    A group representing dozens of Venezuelan asylum-seekers' who were flown to Martha's Vineyard by DeSantis has filed a federal civil rights class-action lawsuit against Florida's governor and other officials. In the filing early Tuesday evening, migrants said they were lured onto the planes under false pretenses.

    DeSantis Slams Martha’s Vineyard Residents

    Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) — who had the state pay for recent flights that sent 48 migrants to Martha's Vineyard — said Tuesday afternoon that it was "sad" the migrants were moved to Joint Base Cape Cod, and accused residents of not welcoming them — despite them providing the migrants food, shelter, and other resources. He also defended the state paying to transport migrants from Texas instead of migrants from Florida.

    A Criminal Investigation Has Been Opened

    This comes as a Texas county sheriff announced a criminal investigation into the scheme. Migrants’ lawyers and advocates said the migrants were lured onto the flights with brochures with misleading information about where they would go. Some lawyers and advocates had argued that move was tantamount to human trafficking or kidnapping.

    Biden on the Possibility of Migrants Coming to His Home State

    Amid reports more migrants may be sent to another Democratic state — reportedly Delaware this time — President Biden had a pointed response for DeSantis.
