President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated and First Lady Martine Moïse was wounded early July 7 after a group of assassins ambushed their Port-au-Prince home. Haitian police have arrested 18 Colombians and three Haitian Americans over the murder. The assassination has created a power vacuum, as at least two men have claimed to be Haiti’s prime minister.
