Big Ideas: Biggest Arctic Expedition, Most Powerful Quantum Computer And Vanishing Birds

In an effort to improve our understanding of climate change, hundreds of scientists from at least a dozen countries are embarking on the biggest Arctic science expedition of all time. The multi-million-dollar project will last for a full year, where researchers will have to brave the harshest conditions on Earth, including storms, polar night, minus 50 degree Fahrenheit temperatures and complete darkness. Plus, a new material that absorbs 99.995 percent of light has been created at MIT, IBM unveils the most powerful quantum computer yet, and billions of birds have vanished from U.S. and Canada over the past half-century.
