The $4.5 Billion Foxconn Factory Boondoggle

Hailed by former President Trump as "the eighth wonder of the world," Foxconn laid the groundwork in 2017 to build a factory in Wisconsin where it would produce LCD screens. Buoyed by massive tax subsidies from the state, it promised to create 13,000 jobs. Years later, nothing of that scale has materialized, angering Wisconsin leaders and residents. Foxconn has pivoted multiple times, now suggesting it could produce electric vehicles instead...and creating 1,454 jobs.
