Sweet Baked Treats for the Holidays, by Tastemaker Maurizio Leo

Holiday baking for me means soft rolls and crunchy bread but if we have savory, we need to balance it with sweet. And really, who can argue with decadent brownies, buttery shortbread, or chocolate babka? My baking turns toward chocolate, dried sweet-sour cherries, cinnamon, apple pie spices, warming vanilla, and even a little espresso — all included in recipes here. And I couldn’t omit traditional Italian panettone, a treat that really has no equal. I wish you a joyous, sweet, holiday season.
