Photo // @jimmy_chin Amazing to see the attention @tommycaldwell and @kjorgeson have garnered on their attempt to free climb the Dawn Wall on El Capitan. The world class athleticism and living on the exposed vertical realm of Yosemite’s biggest wall have certainly captured the imagination of the masses. Here, @kjorgeson has less than a total of one square inch of his finger tips and shoe tips keeping him attached to the wall. (I shot this photo of Kevin on assignment for @natgeo a few years ago while they were working on the Dawn Wall route.) Ironically, Tommy and Kevin each likely have the physical strength, ability and endurance to climb the route, but it’s the worn out skin on their finger tips that is currently the limiting factor. Wish them luck for the send. @thephotosociety @natgeo

#DelicateArch glows during #sunset at Arches #NationalPark in #Utah. @ArchesNPS is home to more than 2,000 natural stone arches -- in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks -- that are unlike any other in the world. Photo @ladzinski / Once a year Ouray Colorado hosts an international Ice Fest at their unique Ice Park. It's an unexpected setting for those that have never visited. Thousands of people fill the box canyon to take climbing clinics or spectate from various bridges and platforms to watch some of the best ice climbers in the world compete. The ice in the canyon is man made, sprayed down calculatedly from water lines above at select times of night, freezing and forming into beautiful curtains of sapphire blue ice. This park is a huge economic stimulus for the resort free mountain town, bringing in millions annually and offering a unique opportunity for an alternative winter experience. It's a one of a kind place. The festival is in full effect today and through the weekend. Seen here, @calstrin climbing into the light in the park.
