#12BeersofXmas
#Day12
Well, that’s it the for another year and congrats, not only to all who took part but for our hard working curator @beeroclockshow for bringing it all together everyday/night..you did a fantastic job Steve!
Tonights beer is a blackberry stout infused with port wine from the Waen brewery ( @thewaenbrewery on Twitter ) and what a fantastic beer to drink for the finale!
It oozes in to the glass, a glossy black maelstrom topped with a thin off-white head and a fruity aroma that just …

#12BeersofXmas
#Day9
…and so we meet again my friends, but I bring news of a dissappointing beer.
Thin and bland, with no discernible winter/spice/taste elements, apart from written on the label,it’s just a run o’ the mill bitter. Not a sinker just very, very average … Oh well :(

#12BeersofXmas
#Day8
We have arrived at Day 8 already!!..it really is flying by, but onwards and upwards, this time with another of my festively themed beers from the Vale of Glamorgan Brewery here in Wales.
This is a lovey dark Winter ale, pouring with a dark red colour, little carbonation and with very little head . A long deep malty base with chocolate notes gives way to a slight sourness on the finish making it very drinkable.
Another decent beer at a fairly low ABV.

#12BeersofXmas
#Day7
Boxing Day has arrived and as we begin to pick through the carnage of discarded wrapping paper, dirty glasses and the odd hungover relative it’s the traditional (well, for the last 20 years in my house) early start to today’s drinking with a stout for breakfast.
This year’s is a chocolate, orange and cinnamon homebrew called Tesseract Chocolate Stout by Hogyn Drwg Brewery that has been kindly brewed for me by a friend and homebrewer I’ve met through Twitter…a certain Mr …

#12BeersofXmas
#Day6
Well, the actual big day has arrived and I’ve finally finished work for the year.. So let the good times roll !!!
Today’s beer is the annual festive offering from Anchor Brewery and a lovely rich, malty number it is too!
Full of yule spicyness and lightly carbonated it’s going down a treat after my Xmas lunch.
May I take this opportunity to wish you and your families all the very best wishes for this Yuletide .

Xmas

‘Tis the afternoon of xmas and all through the house,
Nothing is stirring, not even a sprout,
The lads’ on his xbox building in some boxy land,
The Mrs asleep with book still in hand.
I’ll visit with Twitter,to check on my pals,
And check that they’ve all had a great day with their family and friends.

#12BeersofXmas

#12BeersofXmas
#Day4
Day 4 and finally some hops!!
…a great tasting pale ale coming in at 7.2% abv, like a little hoppy island in an ocean of dark ales that seem to take precedent at this time of the year.
A big mouthful of grapefruit to start with a nice hit of bitterness which,if I have a slight criticism, doesn’t last too long.
Checking out everyone else’s posts I’m slightly envious and realise I made a mistake going for just xmas themed beers for this…I’ve some decent beers that will be enjoyed …

#12BeersofXmas
#day1
So,it’s finally here!…The day we’ve all been waiting for!…No more sleeps till… , ok,well I may have slightly exaggerated the excitement but I have been looking forward to joining in and seeing what other people are drinking over the festive period and having a bit of fun with putting pics up for the daily #prizelessprize chosen by the original beer mentor himself @beeroclockshow.
Day 1’s choice was the lowest ABV I had in my list as I’m still technically working and seemed apt …

#12BeersofXmas

#12BeersofXmas
#Day2
Still going strong, well it is only the second day…and a much better beer!
Nice, malty and warming brew with a slight bitter finish, easy drinking and low ABV…not bad at all !

#12BeersofXmas

#12BeersofXmas
#Day3
Well, here we go again then…3 days in and another dark beer.
This time a stout by the Manchester brewery Redwillow and very nice it is too, thick enough with an interesting sour edge at the back end.
Strangely had no interest in stouts/porters till a few weeks ago being all about the hops, but starting to really appreciate them now…still not really sure what to look for in a good one but know what I like ;)
*Breaking news klaxon* …another winning pic in the #prizelessprize, this …
