* LEE HAZLEWOOD * In 1960 nam Lee Hazlewood samen met Duane Eddy het nummer ‘The Girl On Death Row’ op voor de soundtrack van de film Why Must I Die. Vanaf 1958 hadden ze samen al flink wat instrumentale hits gescoord met de “twangy” gitaar van Duane Eddy in de hoofdrol en Lee als producer. Ditmaal was er de stem van Lee (die het nummer ook schreef), begeleid door Duane Eddy and his Orchestra. Lee Hazlewood-The Girl On Death Row (1960) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvluBWXNcio Met Nancy Sinatra, dochter van Frank, maakte Lee eind jaren zestig een paar albums met duetten, waaronder onderstaande klassieker (video! – helaas niet geheel lip-sync). Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood-Some Velvet Morning (1967) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb-SVPJM4L4 Vanaf 1963 bracht Lee Hazlewood een aantal solo-platen uit (op Mercury, Reprise, MGM en zijn eigen LHI-label) die jarenlang zeldzaam waren, tot Sonic Youth-drummer Steve Shelley een serie heruitgaven startte op zijn label Smells Like Records. Rhino verzorgde een dubbel-cd met het Reprise-werk, Ace deed hetzelfde met de MGM-opnamen.
