Since she was a child, Sefla Fuhrman knew she wanted to serve others. During her secondary school years, this was already apparent. She was always the first one to offer for projects, and she always took the time to assist her students in any way she could. ' After hearing about her mother's cousin, one of the first Peace Corps Volunteers, growing up, she decided to follow in her footsteps and sign up as a volunteer. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in anthropology.
