California Becomes First to Ban Gas Vehicle Sales

Starting in 2035, the sale of new combustion engine cars, trucks and SUVs will be prohibited in the Golden State. These vehicles are major carbon emitters and California wants residents to opt for battery- or hydrogen-powered modes of transportation. Though no other government in the world has followed suit, it's only a matter of time — many U.S. states model California's environmental practices.
