Apple and Google teamed up at the height of the pandemic to launch APIs that would support exposure notification apps. They were heralded as a great tool to monitor the virus and keep people safe. But though 26 states used the technology, a study suggests there was low adoption rate among Americans. With a new surge in COVID-19 cases happening now due to the delta variant, some warn the time isn't right to abandon these contact tracing apps.
