Castrol Honda WTCC - Salzburg - Monteiro and Tarquini reflect on a mixed weekend

Austria - FP1: The first session of the weekend was dominated by Chevrolet, with Yvan Muller breaking his 2012 qualifying lap record by over 1.0s. Tom Chilton finished P2, and Alex MacDowall made it a Chevy 1-2-3 late in the session. Of the Honda Civics, carrying 10kg in extra weight from Hungary, Norbert Michelisz was always among the front runners, eventually finishing 5th behind Rob Huff. Gabriele ended the session P11 and Tiago P14, in a difficult session on a circuit where is an important part of the overall package.

Austria - FP2: This session saw a stronger showing for the Castrol Honda Civics, although Yvan Muller's pace still looks ominous. Muller ended the session P1, followed by Huff, Nash, Chilton, Gabriele (+0.856), MacDowall, Oriola and Tiago (+1.082) in 8th. The Zengo Motorsport Civic of Norbert Michelisz suffered damage mid-way through the session, and Norbert only completed 9 laps for P12. The session was stopped when Yvan Muller span in the third sector on a flying lap, although his Chevrolet suffered no damage. On the restart, Muller posted the best lap of the session, nearly 0.6s ahead of P2 man Huff. The all-important qualifying comes up at 15:00 (CET). Will Muller continue his dominant form?
