There are three bioluminescent bays (bio-bays) in Puerto Rico. One in the SouthWest – "La Parguera", one on Vieques – "Mosquito Bay", and the one in Fajardo – "La Laguna Grande". Out of all three, Mosquito Bay is the brightest, and La Parguera is the least bright. The bays are protected by de gob. And you can kayak and swim in them when you go to the tours. The boat they use is a special one with no motor because the motors damage the organisms that make it glow. Thats the reason why the one in "la parguera" is the least bright out of the 3, but now is protected and no motor boats are permited.
