America's Cup 2013: I found it hard to watch but Ben Ainslie really did save the day for Team Oracle USA

Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson was best friends with Ben Ainslie and Iain Percy for nearly 30 years. They would talk on the phone most days, email and see each other often at home and around the world.

Andrew’s death has been like losing a special brother for both of them too and I know Andrew really …

The Cup May Stay, but There’s No Going Back on Speed

SAN FRANCISCO — The future of the America’s Cup was one victory from becoming Emirates Team New Zealand’s responsibility: one victory from returning to New Zealand, with the Italian team Luna Rossa Challenge expected to be its challenger of record.

But Team New Zealand — despite an 8-1 lead and a …

America's Cup 2013: 'Bart Simpson was on my mind every day we sailed. He would have been so proud at the finish'

I will take away so many special memories from the last fortnight. Almost my favourite memory of the final day, though, came in the small hours of Wednesday night, long after the last champagne cork had popped and I had given my last interview.

I met up with my old friend and team-mate, Iain Percy, …

Oracle hit back as second race is postponed

Fans at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, disappointed as race 13 is postponed.

Fine Art students at the Academy of Art University in San Fransisco have painted this mural to celebrate the America's Cup. They have dedicated it to the memory of Bart, and we would like to thank them all for their hard work and generosity of talent. The continued support of the worldwide community is humbling - in a car trip today one of my sons asked me 'was Andy a V.I.P?' Before I had thought about the question, I realised that I had already answered: 'Ollie,' I replied, 'if you had ever asked Andy that question, he would have immediately replied "No - but you are." And he would have meant it from the bottom of his heart.' Thank you, students from the Academy of Art University, for your wonderful efforts. Like all those supporting this page, Andy would want you to know that you are Very Important People and he would value you immensely.

Sailing wasn't the only action on the San Francisco Bay today...
