Time to reconsider speed limits in Victoria - upwards? When the Northern Territory put limits onto roads that were previously unrestricted they were surprised by the result - the road toll went up: http://ow.ly/kOl8F So now they're considering derestricting some roads again, making it one of the few places in the world where you can drive at any speed you like. Germany, with its famously unrestricted Autobahns, has a lower fatality rate (per 10,000 vehicles) than speed-conscious Australia. Obviously we should drive slowly in the city, perhaps slower than we do currently. But what about on freeways?
