"...Freedom is such a strong word… everybody wants to be free. But while we embrace the notion, many of us are fearful that if we allow someone (parent, friend, partner, boyfriend, girlfriend) their freedom, that in some way it lessens the relationship. Freedom begets closeness. When you support someone to range far and wide they are more likely to want to return. They will respect you for respecting their happiness. And they will be more likely to feel closer to you as a result..."

photo by @CarstenPeter (Carsten Peter) „LAST CHASE“: My most tragic moment: Tim #Samaras, his son Paul Samaras and Carl Young were killed in the El #Reno #tornado on May 31st, 2013. 12 years I am chasing with them and they became like a family to me. Tim was a National Geographic emerging explorer and a genius, innovating measurements in tornados, Carl a metereologist, studying tornado dynamics and I saw Paul growing up to a talented videographer. Because of finishing a book I was not with them. They became trapped in the widest tornado in history (2,6 mi) with windspeeds of 296mph. It is a huge loss to me, their families and the whole community. Today will be the service for Tim and Paul. Take them in your prayers, please! ".. street photography is 99 percent about failure. It’s not just up to me whether a photograph will be successful. The world is my collaborator as well. I believe it was Charles Harbutt, in his afterword to “Travelog,” who wonders when he’s looking for a photograph if perhaps that same photograph is also looking for him," —Alex Webb from the New York Times Lens Blog: http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/01/08/alex-webb-rendering-a-complex-world-in-color-and-black-and-white/
