THE BEGINNING
Existentialism says that life itself has no meaning and the only meaning is what you personally decide matters. It's basically all up to you to find a meaning in such a pointless universe. I disagree with this view strongly, because to say that the universe and it's relevance relies upon the individual wouldn't make sense. Have you taken a look around you? Ever wondered how you can even breathe? Have you ever questioned how such a unique creature like the human being can even function? Or wondered how it's even possible to have over 37,000,000,000,000 individually complex cells flowing through you body every second you live? Or perhaps you could look up in the night sky and count the stars that are visible? Or fly to space and visit the 200 billion galaxies which contain hundreds of billions of stars within themselves? Is it reasonable to believe that in this WHOLE universe the only reason to live is for yourself? There is so much more to life than just yourself. In a plane of existence that some say has been around for billions of years, on a small planet like earth, how can a human being, who is but a vapor, decide what life is worth? God created the heavens and the earth and created every creature that roams on it with a purpose. He created every amazing thing that we see in the world today, even the unseen things. He taught the birds how to sing, taught the stars how to shine, and showed the sea it's limit. He taught the plants to create oxygen, commanded creatures to reproduce, and told the sun how far away to be from Earth. The world was created, it's not an accident. The universe was made with meaning, the stars don't just find their own meaning. Every thing created was meant to glorify God the creator. He then came into the dirt to form the first man.BREATH OF LIFE
The same God that spoke the universe into existence is the same God that created each and every person. When the first person was created, God did not simply speak but it says He, “formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”
(Genesis 2:7) After this, then God forms the first woman from one of the ribs of the first man. What you can see from this passage is that man was meant to be something special. Humans are the only created thing that was not spoken into existence. God crafted man from the dust, meaning that He had to come down to the earth to create us. He stepped down from His throne to "form" our bodies from the ground and He then does something special. It says, He "breathed into the man's nostrils the breathe of life." You have to understand that before this, animals were created and they obviously have the breathe of life as well, but God did not breathe into their nostrils as He did with man. He spoke life into the animals, but for us humans, He came up to our dead bodies and breathed His very life into our lungs. God created humans with a purpose and with meaning. This all sounds amazing just thinking about how intimate God is and how much He cares about each one of us. He created every human being to glorify Him, but man turned away and a curse was given to man and to the earth. Death was introduced when man choose His own way instead of God's.THE GREAT TRESPASS
God has assigned man with the task of taking care of the earth He had created. He told them they could have all the vegetables they wanted, all the fruit, and could eat from any tree in the entire garden except from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God made this rule to protect his creation, not to control them. Man choose to rebel against God and did exactly what He told them not to do. So if a perfect setting between God and man was broken by man choosing his own desires above God's, why would someone want to follow this example of rebellion against God? The very one who created us who we know loves us, and we turn our backs to him and search for purpose in our so "relevant" lives here on earth. Existentialism is just another way to rebel against God and His purpose in your life by following your own heart and becoming your own god. It is exactly what separated man from God in the first place. This separation made it difficult for man to live for the creator because it was as if humanity didn't know their creator anymore. God made a way for us to come back to Him, even though we have rebelled, even though we've been striving to live for ourselves, and even though we have become evil. The Bible says that we became enemies of God and our hearts became corrupted. But there is one name under heaven by which every human being can be reconciled to God. He is the Son of God, the Messiah, the Prince of Peace, my King, my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.THE PRINCE OF PEACE
Since us humans have rebelled against God, the punishment for that is death. Death is eternal separation from God and it is a real place called hell. Hell was made for Satan and his angels who rebelled against God and choose to live for themselves. So if we join those angels in rebellion, we too deserve hell. And sadly all of us have turned away from God. We are hopeless and striving to live for ourselves following our own desires and ending up in a place of emptiness and separation from our creator.“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
(Ephesians 2:4-5) Even after all we've done, God still wants us and made a way, through Jesus Christ, for us to be with Him again. When you see your purpose in Christ and realize that you were meant to be a child of God, you become alive. This is where my story begins. I used to be dead, living for my selfish wants and following my own desires, BUT God showed me the free gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection. I know now that the penalty for my sin(death) has been payed in full by the death of Christ, and by His resurrection I am made alive and now that I've accepted this gift, nothing can separate me from my Father.LIFE
I am made alive in Christ and it is the reason I live, the reason I sing, the reason I dance, and the only reason I need to get through this life on earth. To be reunited with the creator of the world is the most beautiful thing and the only thing that can satisfy the empty soul of a human. What is amazing is that I can be confident in where I will go when I die. I know that this earthly life will only last a few days, but I have hope in a place that will never pass away and that will be perfect. I have been freed from my hatred, my depression, my addiction to pornography, and free from myself. I know the very one who created my being and knew my name before I was even born. He has given me a new heart and I am now free from this earthly life and all it's worries so I can follow Him. My life is dedicated to Him and everything I do is for Him. I intend to spend the rest of my life serving Him by serving others and guiding the lost back to Him. I live as a citizen of heaven here on earth until I get to the place where I belong. Jesus has freed me from the corruption of the world and given me the privilege to free others. I live for my Father every day and get to learn more about Him and grow closer to Him every second I live. That is what life is worth. Existentialism is an empty philosophy/idea that will guide you farther and farther away from the One you were meant to live for.
