July 7, 1980 - Who knew at the time that this would be the last concert for Led Zeppelin....... the last concert for John Bonham...... so sad when you think back about it....... what a day in history........ "You can't go to the store and buy a good ear and rhythm." -Les Paul With Jimmy Page in 1987 after signing Jimmy's guitar. Happy 98th Birthday, Les Paul.

HOME PAGE from Jimmy's website for June 10, 2013 ~ (Previously posted last year) 10 JUN 1995 Page and Plant played Milan ~ This was my second attempt to play Milan after having been tear-gassed on the first time with Led Zeppelin. During the morning of the show, there was a message from the festival site that it was waterlogged and they couldn't get the trucks with our equipment in. However, the ever-resourceful road crew managed to perform the near impossible and the festival was to continue. When I arrived I saw Terence Trent D'Arby performing - he was happening, albeit rain soaked. We performed our set and had an interesting communion with the inclement weather. That evening Porl Thompson guested with his former bandmates The Cure as we skidded and slid away from the festival site.

Let's see if I can get back into my routine a bit here today!! Sharon

HOME PAGE from Jimmy's website for June 16, 2013 ~ (Previously posted last year) ON THIS DAY… 16 JUN 1999 I PERFORMED AT THE UNICEF KOSOVO APPEAL IN LONDON When the troubles in Kosovo finally subsided there was a hasty fundraiser put together at the banqueting halls in Whitehall. I'd been asked to play this event and I played it with my group at the time: Michael Lee on drums and Guy Pratt on bass. I played an instrumental version of 'Dazed and Confused' and I was told people got the idea of the movements being like a classical piece. It must have been quite spirited as apparently it registered on the highly sophisticated sensor equipment at the Ministry of Defence.

Not a lot in the history today but the boys did receive an award for "Best Live Act" from MoJo back on this date in 2008! :) Sharon You can see more here! http://www.ledzeppelin.com/news/2008/06/17/led-zeppelin-scoop-best-live-act-award

I'm not sure where all "Father's Day" is celebrated today, but it is today, here in the states. Doesn't matter anyway, it just gives us a chance to wish ALL Father's a great day today!! Was so hard to pick a photo of Jimmy for Father's Day, as I have so many with him & Scarlet and also others of James Patrick Page III. I also have a couple of Jimmy & his Dad! I also know that I have one (somewhere!) of Jimmy with his youngest children! Never-the-less, I picked one that was originally taken by Ross Halfin Photography! Wishing everyone a fantastic Sunday and a Happy Father's Day!! :) Sharon

Jimmy recently attended a "Lez Zeppelin" concert! June 2013! Photo credit to Judy Totten.......

Another pic of Jimmy with the girls from "Lez Zeppelin"! They performed in London on June 14, 2013! Sharon

The guys are still in the midst of their "Tour Over Europe". They were in Brussels on this day back in 1980......... June 20, 1980 Brussels, BE Vorst Nationaal Setlist: Train Kept a Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, (Out On the Tiles intro) Black Dog, In The Evening, Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer ~ Black Mountainside, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Whole Lotta Love.......... Sharon

The guys kick off an awesome concert series in LA on this day back in 1977! Here's just a tid-bit more.......... June 21, 1977 Inglewood, CA US The Forum Setlist: The Song Remains The Same, (The Rover intro) Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over the Hills and Far Away, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, White Summer ~ Black Mountainside, Kashmir, (Out On the Tiles intro) Moby Dick, Heartbreaker, Jimmy Page solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love ~ Rock and Roll...... News report: LED ZEPPELIN OPEN RECORD RUN AT THE FORUM!! Led Zeppelin painted a mural of musical abstractions for 18,000 screaming fans, who buried the first five minutes of the show in continuous applause. Zeppelin, acknowledged as the world's hottest rock group, finally made it to the Inglewood Forum Tuesday night in the most touted Southland concert since the Rolling Stones. They opened a six-concert stand and will play to 108,000 people - a Forum record..... It took a mere 40 minutes to sell out the tickets for five nights at the Forum. Another night was added later. It too sold out within minutes.......... Sharon

I'm a little late with these birthday wishes, so my apologies!! Just wanted to take a second to wish Jeff Beck a Happy Birthday!! His birthday is today however in England, this day is over! Hope it was a great one! Picture is from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame rehearsals in 2009! (Credits to Ross Halfin) Sharon

I generally don't post TWO history posts but I thought this was ironic! The boys ALSO played the Forum in LA on this same date in 1972!! So they were there June 25 in 1972 & 1977! Here's a bit more about that show! :) June 25, 1972 Inglewood, CA US The Forum Setlist: Drone ~ Immigrant Song, Heartbreaker, Over the Hills and Far Away, Black Dog, Since I've Been Loving You, Stairway to Heaven, Going to California, That's the Way, Tangerine, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Dazed and Confused (incl. Walter's Walk, The Crunge), What Is and What Should Never Be, Dancing Days, Moby Dick, Whole Lotta Love (medley incl. Let That Boy Boogie, Let's Have a Party, Hello Mary Lou, Heartbreak Hotel, Going Down Slow), Rock and Roll, The Ocean, Louie Louie ~ Organ solo ~ Thank You, Communication Breakdown, Bring It On Home. Notes: ------------ Available on How The West Was Won cd, released in 2003. Press Review: LED ZEPPELIN APPEARED in concert at the Los Angeles Forum on Sunday night without a support act. It was definitely for the better as far as the audience was concerned, for they received nearly four hours of music from their heroes........ Sharon

Sharon

Another coincidence today! Just as Jimmy mentions on his website for June 28th, the boys played the Bath Festival on this same date in both 1969 AND 1970, so I am going to feature both today! Here's just a bit more from 1969 and the promo picture that was used! :) Sharon ------------- June 28, 1969 Bath, UK Recreation Ground (Bath) Setlist: Songs performed during this tour include: Train Kept a Rollin', I Can't Quit You Baby, Dazed and Confused, White Summer / Black Mountainside, You Shook Me, How Many More Times, Communication Breakdown............ The press declared - 'Zeppelin's fiery set in which they played their own individual form of progressive blues devastated most and proved on of the most enjoyable sets of the festival'."..............

Just as mentioned below (and on Jimmy's website for today!) The boys played the Bath Festival on this same date, June 28th, in both 1969 AND 1970. I featured the 1969 details below - this is the promo pic used for the 1970 show and a few more details as well!! Sharon --------------------- June 28, 1970 Shepton Mallet, UK Bath Festival - West Showground Setlist: Immigrant Song, Heartbreaker, Dazed and Confused, Bring It On Home, Since I've Been Loving You, Organ solo / Thank You, That's Way (tentatively titled: The Boy Next Door), What Is and What Should Never Be, Moby Dick, How Many More Times (medley incl. Long Distance Call, Honey Bee, Meed Your Love Tonight, That's Alright Mama), Whole Lotta Love, Communication Breakdown, Long Tall Sally ~ Say Mama ~ Johnny B. Goode ~ That's Alright Mama.............. I can see Peter doing this!! ---------- Peter Grant: "Some people were trying to videotape the Bath festival and they'd already been told beforehand they couldn't, so I had no qualms about throwing a bucket of water on to the tape machine which blew the whole lot up. Whoosh! It made a horrible smell and then it melted." (C. Welch interview) ...................
