New Generations of texters, cell phone junkies
In this article it is discussing what texting has brought to the minds of Young
adults, through the slang term, improper punctuation and miss communication. The way teens talk today has changed compared to when their parents were that age this is being blamed on cell phone usage, most people who didn’t have the upraising with cell phone believe that young kids should not be given a cell phone, most believe teen going into high school should then be given a cell phone. Some believe cell phones should only be used for making calls, not texting and if you need to communicate with someone an email will do. This article shows that the intelligence of students has all changed because of cell phone usage at such a young age, with all the slang terms students have now began to include that into their actual school writing.
Despite school bans, texting in class at ‘epidemic’ levels
In this article is discus’s the matters of texting in class in young students. Though
students are told not to text in class and know they are not allowed, they really don’t care, they use those few texts to get there mind out of school and let it travel away for a few minutes. Not only at Clinton N.J. High school are students not allowed to text in class, but now they are not allowed to have their phones in the class they need to be put away in their lockers. Though the teachers and principle would like to believe they obey that rule, they know it really does not happen. However it is not just the students fault they can’t handle it, it may be the parents too, this said it has shown that a wide spread of parents have texted their children in class, in this case does this mean the parents are enabling , even encouraging students to text in class? Teachers do like using technology and wish they could allow students to use their phones as a type of computer use in class, however they know that really the students would lie and be texting, not getting their work done.
    Cellphone Addiction
In this article it discusses the matter of people and how cell phones may be categorized as
addictions like drug abuse or alcoholism. Most young teenagers who grow up with cell phone may become a tad addicted to their phone because that it all they have really ever known, meaning they have always known to constantly be able to connect with their friends and family whenever they want, rather than waiting to be home for the house phone. Cell phone has become an efficient way of communication which gives business men especially a little bit addiction because they are always traveling. It was predicted a decade ago that with time mobile devices will be a completely dependent way of communication and with time they will be all every one really has.

  • Are we Becoming Digital Dummies?
    1. New generation of texters, cell phone junkies:
Cell phone use for virtually everyone has become majorly popular in the last few years and resulted in shorter vocabulary. Children are even getting cell phones at a very young age. Many people have stated their opinion on this issue throughout the article, how they agree, disagree, pointing out how many people they see that have cell phones (even young children on playgrounds), or how cell phones are making us stupid.
Despite school bans, texting in class at ‘epidemic’ levels:
Texting during class has been increasing in alarming amounts according to a recent survey; over 40% of teenagers claim they text during class. Cell phone use is found everywhere, a high percentage of parents own a cell phone, some teenagers constantly text in class, some text their friends in the same class and even text their friend’s answers in class when they’re struggling. Most teenagers never even get caught when they text in class. Several people added information regarding the content of this article like information about parents texting their children in class, there’s been more bullying over Facebook than in school, and people are even trying to find solutions for getting the teenagers away from their phones. However some people see it as a positive because children can look up information during class but that’s not what their main use is for teenagers.
    Cell Phone Addiction:
In recent surveys most people wouldn’t want to give up their cell phones, cell phones provide access to people and information however. Certain people think their world has ended if you’re in the middle of texting someone and you lose service. Cell phones have become a huge part of our lives, but it hasn’t been diagnosed as an addiction yet. The article talks about David Greenfield, Scott W. Campbell, and John Horrigan’s take on cell phone addiction.
    Are we Digital Dummies?
Humans started out as simple speakers, but now there are a million ways to communicate because of our modern technology. Tod Maffin says that he hasn’t met anyone who isn’t happy managing the technology. Most people said that they can’t live without their phones but complain about how it’s taken over their lives. The article makes us ask ourselves if we really are digital dummies because we can’t live without our phones and always have to text or answer a call or check Facebook.
    2.

    Positive
    Negative
Helps people get through the day
Texting can be dangerous (car accidents)
    Information at your fingertips
    Separates kids from their parents
Used for learning tools in class
    Diminishing communication skills
    Improves businesses
    Diminishing personal relationships and education
We can meet anyone, anywhere, anytime
Your whole world ends when you don’t have service
Most kids constantly text in class
Our brain can’t seem to keep up with the modern demands for our attention
    We get distracted more easily
    It’s addicting
    3.
Cell phones are a big part of our lives, and are very addicting. They have their ups and downs but according to these articles, there seems to be more drawbacks to cell phones than benefits.
Cell phones help us get through a long day by passing time or even just texting someone who makes us happy. We can get virtually any source of information at the tip of our fingers because our cell phones have the capability to go on the internet to research anything. We can use it for learning tools in class by researching something for an assignment or just researching something to understand a certain topic in class. Cell phones improve business by allowing us to make apps to promote businesses or just to help us out with our businesses. They allow us to talk to anyone, anywhere, at anytime by texting, going on Facebook, or even a phone call.
Cell phones seem to have a lot of benefits to them but they aren’t all that great. We are so addicted to our phones that we text constantly, in class, when we’re hanging out with friends, and even driving (which can lead to many accidents and injuries and even death). Texting separates children from their parents because they are glued to their phones and not having any real conversations. That leads to diminished communication skills because if the youth of today never actually has real face to face conversations they won’t go very far in life and diminishes personal relationships. It also diminishes our education because we’re constantly on our phones and not paying attention in class. We think our whole life has ended if we don’t have service and can’t talk to anyone or check Facebook and/or Twitter (then we’ll have to go out in the real world which would be so terrible for most people). We get so distracted by our phones and it gets so addicting that we can’t stop. We rely on our electronic life rather than what we do in real life. Sooner or later we won’t be able to live without our phones unless we at least try to wean ourselves so we won’t complain that it’s taking over our lives.
Our cell phones may have some positive impacts in our lives but they have more drawbacks than benefits according to the information from these articles and my personal opinion.
