✮★ Menopause FACTS ★✮ (ᴀʀᴛɪᴄʟᴇ ғʀᴏᴍ ᴛʜᴇ ғɪᴛɴᴇss 50 ʏᴇᴀʀ ᴏʟᴅ ᴡᴏᴍᴀɴ ɪ ᴋɴᴏᴡ) I recently met a personal trainer named Shawna K. who is a fellow Canadian. Her specialty is helping women in their 40's and 50's look and feel their best... And I can't remember how it came up in our discussion but I was shocked to discover that she just turned 50 years old! You definitely wouldn't guess her age when not only seeing her, but also what her body is capable of... She has an awesome at home fat loss program designed specifically for women that includes workouts with follow along videos, nutrition plans and a special 21 day rapid fat loss plan to help you "kickstart" your 2014 fitness goals. But before I give that info to you, I wanted to share this short article about what happens to your HORMONES in menopause that Shawna wrote for you: ----------------------------------------------- Just wanted to share some facts with your fine ladies… I know that some of you aren't approaching menopause yet, some of you are smack dab in the middle of it and others are coming out the other side. I wanted to give you some insight as to what you should be doing so to sail through the process a whole lot easier (and possibly symptom-free). One of the keys is exercise…. Physical activity is the most effective alternative therapy available for women who experience menopausal symptoms. Period. It allows you to manage both your body AND emotions. When you exercise, your adrenal glands are stimulated to convert the male hormone (called androstenedione) into estrogen. And you don't need to workout for hours each day! In fact, just four 30-minute exercise sessions per week are enough to keep you "topped off" with estrogen and keep your hormones balanced. Regular exercise can benefit you in a number of ways as you pass through menopause: strengthening your heart and bones, avoiding or minimizing weight gain, improving your mood and sense of overall well-being. It also reduces the duration and intensity of those infamous hot flashes. In a recent Swedish study, researchers found that postmenopausal women who exercised were able to handle menopause without Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT); in fact, some of them did not experience hot flashes at all. Other studies have found similar beneficial results, including mood elevation in pre-, peri-, and postmenopausal women. Indeed, studies have shown that regular physical activity benefits not only women going through natural menopause but also those on HRT. Are you convinced? Trust me, I'm approaching 50 (I can't even believe that myself!) and I have NO symptoms of menopause yet. I attribute this to a healthy diet and the right type of exercise. Do you want to feel in control during this time of your life rather than have these symptoms control you? Then make sure you're performing the right amount and types of exercise.
