A Columbus, Ohio native, Lawrence has over fifteen years of experience in the performing arts. Lawrence obtained his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Performance from Kentucky State University and has studied at the Ailey School in New York City, the official school of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. In addition to his education, Mr. Lemon has been a featured artist for several companies and organizations locally and nationally and holds a number of other awards and life commemorative achievements, including special recognition given by the Governor of Ohio for outstanding accomplishments in the area of Fine Arts in the city of Columbus. He has performed at two NAACP national Conventions for Emmit Till’s mother and civil rights activist, Ms. Rosa Parks. Lawrence has had the pleasure of being an opening act for some of today’s top recording artist including Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, J Moss, Donald Lawrence, Destiny’s Child and Jay Z. Lawrence has had the honor of being under the tutelage of famed dancer/choreographer/instructor Katherine Dunham, Dr. Glory Van Scott, and Ruby Streate. Mr. Lemon has been blessed to also work with Zoe Ellington Britton, Troy Powell, Terrance Greene, and April Berry. Lawrence recently had the honor of working with modern dance pioneer Dianne McIntyre in Ntozake Shange's choreopoem "Why I Had to Dance." Mr. Lemon’s most prestigious accomplishment is the establishment of Nomel Inspirational Dance Theater (NIDT) and the Ohio Black Dance Festival.
