I saw this floating around, but I did not know the source. I found this message from the creator, and now want to share. "Do you know the size of a Newborn's stomach? I thought creating this photo would help visualize the size and volume of a newborn's stomach. This is why newborn's want to feed frequently and why you need to trust that your body has more than enough for your little one and, if supplementing, be very careful not to over feed. If you feed them too much via a bottle as a top up or supplement you are risking decreasing your supply, stretching their little tummy, and teaching them to want more milk, faster then your breast can provide. If you are using large amounts of formula it can make them so sleepy they do not wake to feed as frequently as necessary to establish your supply properly. If you are supplementing and your goal is to breastfeed always make sure you are seeking guidance of a Lactation consultant so you can protect your supply. www.babiesfirstlactation.com Please feel free to share and help spread the information. * Image belongs to Babies First Lactation and Education please include the entire image when reposting. *"
