Photo by @jonathankingston Just a few hours left to celebrate Earth Day 2016 in Hawaii. It is a privilege to witness such beauty - beauty that asks nothing in return. Beauty that motivates me to do everything in my power to preserve it for future generations. I’m excited to announce I’ll be hosting this month's @Natgeofineart New Collection Preview in Maui, Hawaii at the National Geographic | Fine Art Galleries location in The Shops at Wailea on April 23rd from 6-9pm. If you are in the area, come by to check it out and say hi. For more info on the event, follow the link in my bio @jonathankingston #EarthDay #NatGeoEarthDay

Photograph by @paulnicklen in Qaanaaq, Greenland for #NatGeoEarthDay. Huskies get very excited to pull komatiks (sleds) across the sea ice. I marveled that they had energy left to play after a long day of pulling. With @cristinamittermeier, @natgeopristineseas and @sea_legacy. Being in Northwest Greenland was like going back in time. These famous hunters of the high arctic spoke openly about the effects of climate change on their way of life. Their subsistence comes from the sea and the sea ice acts as their highway. As the sea ice disappears so does their way of life. Please follow me on @paulnicklen this week as I continue to post images from this polar expedition. I shot 42,000 images in two weeks which is a record for me. That is over 3000 images a day which would have been 100 rolls of film shot per day. I feel for my editor, Kathy Moran for having to sort through way too many images. #dogs #pets #huskies #gratitude #nature #wildlife #climatechange #climatereality

"I was born and grew up in this place called Minsheng Community, a quiet and convenient neighborhood full of childhood memories for me. Since I moved to New York about 3 years ago, I realized how much I miss my home and my family, so I photograph everything each time I return to tide over my homesickness until next time."

Photo by Corey Arnold @arni_coraldo I made this image only a couple hours after losing a bag full of my best camera equipment off of a cliff in Zion National Park. Only one lens and camera body survived, but just enough to to finish my work in the park.... This view from the Canyon Overlook Trail cheered me up as I waited into the night taking in the power of Zion and watching the crowds disappear into the lower canyon. Happy #earthday everyone! We are very lucky to have a brilliant National Park system in the US which protects and simultaneously provides access to some of our finest Natural environments. #natgeoearthday Next week I'll be in Haleakala National Park on Maui. If you are a millennial under 30 years old and planning a trip to the park next week, let me know about it at @arni_coraldo . I'll be photographing millennials in Haleakala for an upcoming story in the Dec 2016 issue of @natgeo #zion #zionnationalpark #utah #roadtrip #nature #landscape #night #traffic #instagood #photooftheday #instagram #nationalpark

Giant cane ablaze in the San Vicente Canyon on the American side of the Rio Grande. Amid talk of building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, a crew of Mexicans and Americans in Texas has been blurring borders, working together to eradicate giant cane, a tall bamboo-style invasive grass that constricts the river. The photographer @tamirhasacellphone spent 3 days watching the crew burn cane along the #RioGrande, where licks of flame stretching 10 stories shot into the air in an otherworldly landscape of limestone canyons, red-tailed hawks and village dogs and donkeys. The crew — which includes 6 members of Los Diablos, a Mexican firefighting team, and several Americans from @nationalparkservice, @mypubliclands and the @tamu forest service — shared equipment, bottles of hot sauce and tan lines on their sunburned faces marking the shape of their sunglasses. We’ll be sharing more of @tamirhasacellphone’s images from the trip this #nytweekender.
