One week has passed since an Amtrak train heading from Los Angeles to Chicago hit a dump truck near Mendon, Missouri. People recovering from that crash are realizing there are a few more legal hurdles to overcome if they want to recover any sort of damages from Amtrak.
The July heat is taking hold this week. Overnight temps will only drop into the upper 70s overnight. With plenty of sunshine, temperatures will quickly climb into the upper 90s. The heat index will make it feel like it is about 104 degrees. By the weekend, we may see highs in the lower 90s.
The high today will be 95 degrees, with the heat index making it feel like we've topped 100 degrees. Temps may drop into the upper 80s Monday evening for Fourth of July celebrations. It will be even hotter on Tuesday. The heat wave will last as we head toward the weekend.
