Photographer Flips and Folds the World to Create Surreal Inception-Like Landscapes

Architect and photo manipulator Laurent Rosset lives his life by the motto of creating one's dreams. His surreal photo series certainly seem inspired by an out-of-control daydream, one where landscapes can twist upon themselves like giant waves, and characters submerge with the world all around …

Photo by @BrianSkerry. Tiny tunicates thrive on an underwater cave wall in Chichi Jima, Japan. Although they seem to have little faces (like Mr. Bill) this is simply their coloration pattern. These animals are endemic to this one location and are found nowhere else in the world. How many other discoveries are waiting to be made in Earth’s oceans? "U.F.O." It seems just fantasy, but that cloud was definitely out of this world and I was wondering if maybe all the stories about the presence of Aliens in #Iceland are true.👽 #beyondthelands_ _______________👇 Uncropped version available on my FB account: ▶Simona Buratti Photography◀ Feel free to check it out!

Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki really got it right shooting the entire @RevenantMovie during the ‘Magic Hour’ of light around dawn and dusk. Watching the movie, I was taken back to many moments in wild places around the world when I was out in the cold to capture that magic time of day (such as for this shot here of Denali from the Ruth Gorge, Alaska). Make the effort. It’s worth it. Hats off to Emmanuel for the ‘Best Cinematography’ Oscar. #Respect. Don’t miss the beautiful filming in #TheRevenant. #MagicHour, #ad. Photo by @TimLaman.

Me on a bridge

CONNECTING THROUGH SOUND "PATTERNITY's sound bath helped me hear sound and feel emotions in a way I'd never thought achievable or even desirable. The session has brought a new-found spirituality to my practice as a craft jellymonger. Nothing compares to the sensation of exploring the hidden patterns in sound through the medium of Japanese crystal singing bowls!" © Suzan Pektas @sznpkt I chose this photo because it portrays an ordinary scene (the harbour of Thessaloniki) with a veil of magic, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. For me, we get to see this magic only when we overcome the ignorance that rules our lives. --- Our mission at LensCulture is to discover and share the best in contemporary photography. At the start of 2015, we decided to expand this mission onto Instagram: each week, we selected one photographer, from anywhere in the world, and asked them to share their work with our audience. The effort has been a resounding success: not only are the photographers thrilled to share their work, but our audience has really responded. In January 2015, we had less than 1,000 fans—today, we have surpassed 150,000! To thank and celebrate all the photographers who contributed their work in this past year, we have asked them to share one final photograph for 2015. Some of them offered a few words about why they chose this particular photograph. Others simply wanted to let the image speak for itself. We hope you have enjoyed these photographs--now, onto 2016!

A light for a lost soul

Chào mừng | Welcome Day one in Vietnam and I'm up with the sun ready to explore Hanoi. I'm immediately struck by it's beauty and charm. The streets are bustling with life - and motorbikes! I find a more relaxed vibe at Hoàn Kiếm Lake, where locals gather for early-morning exercise. I want to shoot and see and eat everything but will need to pace myself in this intense humidity. I've soaked through one shirt already - it's not even breakfast time. #onedayoffline
