A Palenque is a community founded by runaway African slaves around 400 years ago. West Africans escaping their captors lived in the rain forest founding colonies. They lived with their traditions, customs, and, language. Palenquero is a blend of many African languages that are still spoken today. only one settlement survives. In this Storyboard, I will share articles about the culture and history of the Palenques in Colombia and Panama.
