2 days left to #mallard75 and thanks go to Geoffrey for this great pic of Bittern. We're running out of time to share all the amazing pics you've been sending in but a blog containing some of our favs will be appearing soon.

Our loco of week has to be 4468 Mallard - the world's fastest ever steam loco. This Wednesday (in case you hadn't heard already) is the 75th anniversary of Mallard's world steam speed record and we will be celebrating it in style. More info:

It's now less than 10 days to go until #mallard75 - when are you coming up to York? Stephen Miller provided us with this atmospheric shot of Union of South Africa at Godnow Bridge on the Cleethorpes to Doncaster line.

Stephen sent us this fantastic picture of Union of South Africa arriving at Lincoln to celebrate our upcoming A4 events. Just 8 days now until #mallard75 begins.

It's only a fortnight until our #mallard75 events begin! Thanks to Aaron Miller for sending us this picture of Sir Nigel Gresley taken in 2009 - is Sir Nigel the loco you're most looking forward to seeing out of the six A4s?

Sir Nigel Gresley was born 137 years ago today. To celebrate we have recreated this iconic 1930s pic (though replaced Sir Nigel the loco with Mallard). Happy Birthday to one of the greatest railway engineers of all time! A brief interview with the man himself (modern edition) will follow later today.

Just 13 days remain between us and the start of our #mallard75 celebrations. Today's image is from Sam Tugwell and shows Bittern at Goodrington Bank. How many of you have seen Bittern in person before?

It's the final countdown! Only 10 days to go until #mallard75 begins - are you excited as we are? Today's picture comes from Ian Voce and shows Bittern approaching Colton Junction near York.
