BICEPS: Don't let my post-workout photo scare you. That bicep pump lasted for 20 minutes...the photo on the right is how my arms look the rest of the time BECAUSE I train them hard. BACK BUILDING: Not posting this side by side to say Oct 2011 looks bad. I'm very proud of the physique I brought to the stage in Oct 2011 (goal accomplished: 18 months post-baby do fitness comp). But I didn't say, "OK, done now" because my goal was more than just "do a competition" it was "be healthy for life." So I kept working at this health & fitness thing, kept lifting...slowly, patiently, consistently. A year later, no miracle transformations (diet controls that), and 2012 I brought a fuller, healthier, more shapely (and confident) physique to the stage. You can see by my exercise program, heavy weight lifting will not make you all big & manly (your diet controls how big you get). Today was the first day of contest prep training for me, and it started with my least (most?) favorite part to train. LEGS!! Drenched in sweat, I grunted through 90 lbs squats (I weigh 115 lbs)...I felt my beastmode come out after a year of following a gentler more llifestyle-type of approach to fitness. I'm pumped to share my contest program with you thanks to Elite Team...I'm proud to be working with them on my 3rd season of competing.

CHEST WORKOUT? I confess to skipping chest day often throughout my normal workout schedule...but now that I'm in contest prep mode there is NO skipping. As a woman, I have a mental block wanting to train this part hard...why would I want to build chest muscles? But I want a strong physique and understand that my chest is part of this package. Last time I checked I didn't look very manly :) Loving being part of Elite Team which helps me push my limits and challenges my preconceived notions (and share my program with you!).

Day 4. Working out on the road. Find a route you love and run or walk. For me, nothing is prettier than horses, lakes and trees. Words of caution. Leave your route with your family. Take your phone. Know your surroundings. Have Fun. New routes are great for reinvigorating your routine.
