What is a Palenque?
A Palenque is a community founded by runaway African slaves around 400 years ago. West Africans escaping their captors lived in the rain forest. Founding colonies they lived with their traditions, customs and their language. Palenquero is a blend many African languages is still spoken today. only one settlement survives.
