The History of Aztec Food
The Aztecs introduced the world to many of our favorite foods like chocolate. The Aztecs were an agriculturally-based society. Maize was the dominant crop. Shelled corn soaked in an alkali solution, was ground into a flour. Then the mixture was shaped into a flat bread, and fried on a griddle. The tortilla was born. Other crops included beans, squash, avocados, chilies, tomatoes, nuts, sweet potatoes, and cactuses. In this Storyboard I will share some of the ancient food traditions and recipes.
