A filmmaker fan of Pink Floyd has created a 12-minute animated film based on the tribulations of the band’s lighting director at a 1973 show. The film, entitled ‘Bad Day At The Office’, features new, tongue in cheek, animation based on an actual recording of Floyd lighting designer Arthur Max grappling with the technical challenge of working with a brand-new follow-spot crew. In June 1973, Pink Floyd were performing at Detroit’s Olympia Stadium, where the venue policy was to use only inhouse staff who were more used to covering ice hockey events. The film shows an animated version of Arthur Max having to lick his ad hoc team into shape on the hoof, and is accompanied by a live rendition of ‘Obscured by Clouds’. Directed by animator Cliff Port and produced by Simone Kay, the world premiere for "Bad Day at the Office" will be at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, in the Pilton Palais Cinema, aka "The Cinema Tent", on Friday 28th June at 11.30pm.
